AFTERCARE
HOW TO PROPERLY CARE FOR YOUR INVESTMENT AT HOME
Wash your extensions or lace closure using smoothing actions only, with a cool to medium temperature. Rinse, then rinse again, even when you think you are done rinsing. Condition mid to ends only! Nothing oily such as a hair mask, conditioner or oil can touch the base of the lace closure; leaving anything oily at the root of the extensions could make them slip.
Keep heat down to 110% while styling and always use heat defence. Make sure no conditioner, hair mask, or oil is at the root of your lace closure or extensions. Your hair extensions or closure will need styling; it may just need a spritz of water and a hairdryer directing the hair to lay flat each morning.
Colour fades; be aware if you have a custom root on your lace closure or weft that it will fade with wear, so it will require a weft retone at your next appointment. Be aware the hair extensions colour will change slightly with washing, sun and general wear. Purple shampoo is damaging to the lace closure & drying to hair extensions.
Swimming underwater is a big no-no for hair extensions or mesh integration wearers in general. The chlorine will strip the hair texture and change the colour of the extensions; they will feel different right away, and unfortunetly theres really no saving them. Swimming in the sea can also do the same thing by drying out your hair extensions. Keep your hair off your shoulders if you are going to be wearing sunscreen and take care around the edges of the hairline as sunscreen will stain your hair.
If you spray tan, wear make up or alot of skincare products (especially if they contain oils or SPF), you need to be careful not to get them on your new hair. Applying oils near the front of your closure will transfer the oil and causing it to shed. Oily skin can also be the cause of this so take care applying your products. SPF, makeup or self tanner will turn your hairline a beautiful hue of orange.
Have the right styling tools to look after your hair extensions or mesh system. You need a blowdry brush for when you are drying it from wet and a fluffy brush for general brushing (and to keep in your bag to use through the day). Don't skimp on this as the wrong brush could rip and tear the hair extensions and lace closure.
When sleeping, make sure you aren't causing any tension. The hair can be divided into 2 and braided, keeping the silk hair tie at the bottom of the hair. A loose ponytail will also work. Avoid buns or putting your hair up high. Silk pillowcases and bonnet’s are brilliant for your mesh system & extensions.
It is important to use salon approved hair products when washing your hair extensions. We always suggest a sulphate free shampoo which you must shampoo with twice while washing your hair, secondly a conditioner or hair mask, then your heat defence spray and hair oil to look after the hair health and to make sure its protected and not drying out. Remember your hair extensions or mesh closure don’t have natural oils running through it so you need to make sure the hair is nourished.
